Checkmate is just the beginning.
One new puzzle. Every day.
One new puzzle. Every day.
Start with the same new forced-mate puzzle as everyone else, then keep going with Mastery training, clockless Rush, weekly goals, and cosmetic rewards. Every puzzle ends in checkmate, and any winning line that preserves the required mate is accepted.
Tap a piece, then tap its destination, or drag it. You always play up the board. Deliver checkmate within the shown number of moves. You get three tries; a wrong move uses one. If all three are gone, today's challenge is over. A new puzzle arrives at midnight Eastern time.
Climb an 18-rung training ladder from mate in 1 through mate in 5. Each rung has Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranks to earn. Practice as much as you like. Mastery never affects your Daily streak.
When one puzzle a day is not enough, Mated Rush is a clockless survival run. Choose Normal, Hard, or Expert and solve mates back to back. Clear 10 levels to win, then keep going for a high score. One wrong move is a strike; three strikes end the run.
Daily solves, Rush solves, milestones, and goals from This Week's Challenge earn Crowns. Use them to unlock new piece sets and board colors in Collection. These rewards are entirely cosmetic. Nothing you unlock makes a puzzle easier.
Every day at midnight Eastern time. Yesterday's puzzle remains available for practice.
Yes. Today's Mate, all 18 Mastery rungs, your Progress page, and three Rush runs each day are free. Mated Club is optional and adds unlimited Rush, double Rush Crown earnings, the full Daily Archive, four Club board colors, the Royal piece set, and a leaderboard badge.
No. You can play immediately as a guest. Signing in keeps your Daily, Mastery, Rush, Crowns, and Collection progress across devices. An account is required to spend Crowns on permanent Collection unlocks or join Mated Club.
The side to move can force checkmate within three of its moves, no matter how the defender replies. Every Mated puzzle has a forced mate, and every winning line that preserves that mate counts.
The positions come from real games. Mated curates each challenge and independently verifies every forced mate and acceptable winning line before the puzzle reaches players.
